CASE STUDY: Development and management of urban tree plantings
Landscape Master Plan, Adelaide Park Lands.
As the first stage in the development of a comprehensive Landscape Plan for the Adelaide Park Lands the Adelaide Council developed a series of guiding principles and directions.
As part of this first stage, I worked with the landscape architects Taylor Cullity Lethlean to assist in researching: the ecological systems operating in the Park Lands; the pre-European vegetation and what remains of it, and; the species diversity across the Park Lands. The proposed Landscape plan provides an opportunity to not only reconnect Parklands with the original sites vegetation but also to allow the Park Lands to play a greater role as a significant Arboretum. This latter aspect could link it more effectively with the Botanic Gardens and Botanic Park.
